Land Development Corporation Board

The Land Development Corporation's Board consists of:

William Kirkby-Jones AM - Chairman

Mr Kirkby-Jones took up the position as Chairman in July 2010 and brings with him over 36 years of experience in the commercial and residential construction industry across both the private and public sectors.

He currently holds the position of Chairman of NSW Landcom and was the founding Managing Director of the Defence Housing Authority and is a former Squadron Commander in the Royal Australian Armoured Corp.

His extensive industry experience includes roles as Director and Chairman of the Australian Housing and Urban Research Institute Audit, Finance and Risk Management Committee (1999 – 2009), Chairman of Community Housing Canberra Ltd (1997 – 2003) and Managing Director of the Housing Industry Authority (1978 – 1987).

John Coleman, Chief Executive

John Coleman has over 35 years experience in the Northern Territory Public Sector with 12 years as Senior Ministerial Officer in numerous portfolio areas including Treasury. Agency experience includes Primary Industry, Fisheries, Mines and Energy, Parks and Wildlife, Tourism, Sacred Sites Authority, Corrections, Health, Public Service Commission, Archives, Museums, Police Fire and Emergency Services, Racing and Gaming, TIO, Asian Relations and Trade and Lands and Planning.

Over the past 6 years John has overseen the operations of the Land Development Corporation as General Manager, as well as remaining part of the Executive within the Department of Lands and Planning. This role has seen John been involved in the strategic planning for key developments such as the Gas Task Force, Major Projects, Defence Estate negotiations, Marine Supply Base, Alcan G3, Trans Territory Pipeline, Conoco Philips Gas Plan and Inpex onshore plan and support site negotiations.

John held the post of Chief of Staff, Office of the Chief Minister and then returned to the Department of Lands, Planning and the Environment as Executive Director, Economic Development. John was appointed Chief Executive of the Department and this Corporation in April 2013.

Marek Petrovs - Member

Marek Petrovs is a Melbourne-based property consultant providing advice to both the public and private sectors in Australia and overseas. He has been the deputy chair of the NSW Growth Centres Commission and chairman of the former Urban and Regional Land Corporation of Victoria, now merged with the Docklands Authority to become VicUrban. Marek is currently Chairman of Walton Construction Pty Ltd, Secretary of Wincity Pty Limited and a Member of the EG Property Group Advisory Board. Marek has facilitated national forums for the Victorian, South Australian, New South Wales, Australian Capital Territory and Western Australian land corporations.
